Our take
Written Aug 3, 2026Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite is a lightweight multimodal model from Google that can handle up to one million tokens in a single request and accepts text, images, files, audio and video. It is available only through hosted APIs with tiered speed options, and no benchmark scores are currently available.
Choose this for massive-document analysis where a one-million-token request limit matters more than measured quality scores, or for multimodal pipelines combining several input types. Pick the slower tier when cost matters most and 65 tokens per second is enough; pay twice as much for the faster tier only when throughput is the bottleneck. Skip it if you need self-hosting, fine-tuning, or any verified quality data to compare against peers.
The case for it
- One-million-token request limit stands alone as unusually large in this data.
- Entry tier is half the input and output cost of the standard tier on the same platform.
- Throughput flexibility from 16.5 to 99 tokens per second on Google AI Studio, with a mid-tier option at 99 tokens per second for twice the entry price.
The case against it
- No measured quality scores in our data — no Elo, MMLU, or other benchmarks held.
- Proprietary weights with no open licence; self-hosting and fine-tuning are not possible.
- Throughput varies sharply by tier and provider, with an 83 percent gap between the slowest and fastest tiers and uneven speed-to-price ratios across hosts.
How good is it?
We hold no score for this model.
We look for every model we track on every board we watch, and none of them has turned up Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite — so there is no intelligence, coding, agentic or writing score to show you, not a low one, none.

The lab is also the cheapest we hold. The strip above and this offer are the same one, so nothing on this page undercuts Google AI on 1M of context.
