Our take
Written Aug 3, 2026Nova Micro is Amazon's lightweight text-only model with a 128,000-token request limit and measured coding strength on Arena leaderboards. It is a low-cost, AWS-native option for teams already in the Amazon ecosystem.
Pick this for coding tasks where its Arena leaderboard score is the relevant signal, or for long-context text work up to 128,000 tokens within AWS. It is the cheapest Bedrock tier for this model line. Skip it if you need creative writing quality, strong instruction-following, or the ability to download and fine-tune weights.
The case for it
- Coding is the standout Arena category, scoring 73.6 points above its own overall text score and 90.7 points above its creative writing score.
- Pricing is identical across all three tracked providers, so there is no arbitrage hunt needed.
- Bedrock throughput is measured and stable, with only a four-token-per-second spread between the two endpoints.
The case against it
- Creative writing lags its own coding performance by a wide margin on Arena leaderboards.
- Instruction following is the weakest of its six measured Arena categories, 25.8 points below its overall text score.
- Proprietary weights with no disclosed licence, so there is no download or fine-tuning path.

Nobody we watch has scored Nova Micro 1.0 for this. We would take the rating from Arena Agent (IPS).
WritingWe do not rate this
Two boards come close and neither tests writing: Arena Creative Writing asks people which of two replies they prefer, and LiveBench Language tests whether a model understood a passage. So we show where Nova Micro 1.0 placed and give it no mark out of five.
These tests check whether a model follows instructions — a precondition for all the work above, but not a measure of how well that work is done, which is why they get no rating.

Cheapest of 3 live listings. Picked at the widest standard context we hold, within one quantisation slice, so the numbers beside it are a price one host actually charges.
